MADD Mocktails Competition
Chariho Community SADD had the honor of participating in their 5th MADD Mocktails Competition last night to celebrate the life on a victim of drunk driving. In loving memory of Brendan Moniz who passed away at just 7 years old, Chariho student created a table display a drink and giveaways to honor Brendan. Chariho Community SADD was named People Choice! Way to go!
SADD Adopts a Family for the Holidays
SADD kids went out shopping for two foster kids in honor of Brendan (our victim).
We used $200 from part of our candy bar sales last year to get them cloths and toys.
Trooper Justin Andreozzi and K9 Riggs from the RI State Police.
At a CMS assembly, Troooper Andreozzi talked about his worked with training the State Police dogs and how they learn to search for drugs or search for people who may be missing. We had the 5th and 6th grade and then the 7th and 8th grade students attend. They even got to see the dog search for a substance that he hid before they came to the presentation.
RISAS VASSA Leadership Conference
RISAS VASSA Leadership conference held at NEW England Tech. There were about 12 high schools and 150 students and advisors there. 11 Chariho High school VASSA students attended. Chariho was asked to run the Substance abuse prevention Ice breaker for the whole group.

World No Tobacco Day
In celebration of World No Tobacco Day students all over Rhode Island planned to pick up cigarets butts. The Chariho Community SADD group organized a clean up on May 30th in and around the Chariho Plaza, the Wyoming Dam, and Meadowbrook Plaza. In less than two hours the group of six picked up over 3400 cigarette butts weighing 6 pounds in total. During the cleanup many Richmond citizens were appreciative of the efforts made by the SADD group toward cleaning up our community.

Dare to Dream at URI
Varsity athletes and students collaborated with special needs students in healthy coping skills workshop. Everyone had a great time and learned a lot.
